FreeTier Finder
Most "best free AI tools" lists are ordered by whoever paid for placement. This one is not. Pick a task below and the Finder ranks tools using one published rule and one source: what the AIToolGuide comparison dataset itself records about each tool's free tier. If the dataset records no free tier for a tool, the tool is not ranked, and the page says how many were left out.

Not free: the lowest listed starting prices in this category
These tools have no free tier recorded in the dataset. They are shown only so the free list above does not look emptier than the category is; they are not free picks and they are not part of the ranking.
What counts as a free tier here
- Listed at $0. The dataset's own price field for the tool is $0 in at least one of its comparisons. That is the dataset saying the tool starts free.
- Credited by a verdict. A comparison verdict or best-for line in the dataset explicitly credits the tool with a free tier or a free plan. The exact sentence is quoted on the result, with the comparison it came from, so you can check it.
- Free trial only. If the dataset only mentions a free trial, the tool ranks below every ongoing free tier and is labeled as a trial. A trial is not a free tier.
- Nothing recorded, not ranked. Absence of a mention is not proof a tool has no free tier in real life. It means this dataset does not record one, and the Finder would rather show a short honest list than pad it with guesses.
Where the data comes from
The Finder is generated from the same comparison dataset that powers AIToolGuide: ... head-to-head comparisons across ... tools, with prices and verdict summaries written for the site. The dataset records starting prices and editorial verdicts; it does not publish numeric free-tier allowances (such as words per month), so this Finder never prints one. Rankings here follow the published rule above, never payment, sponsorship, or ads.
Then what?
A free tier is the cheapest way to test a tool against your real work. When you outgrow it, the full comparisons on AIToolGuide show what the paid plans add, and StackAudit, the site's profession-based stack audit, can check a whole tool stack at once.
